Invented by French mathematician Edouard Lucas in 1883, the Hanoi Tower is a timeless puzzle consisting of three pegs and six wooden discs of varying sizes. The discs are stacked from largest at the bottom to smallest at the top, forming a pyramid. The challenge is to move all the discs from one peg to another, one at a time, without placing a larger disc on top of a smaller one. For six discs, the minimum number of moves is sixty-three, making it both a fun and mentally stimulating activity. As children shift the discs, they develop logical reasoning, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. The Hanoi Tower also introduces concepts of sequencing and recursion, making it valuable for both early learners and budding computer science enthusiasts.
